課程概述

此課程旨在幫助同學熟悉量子領域中常用的觀念和符號,以簡化的方式處理物理問題,建立量子世界中的直觀,並更深入瞭解量子理論和模型,以便將量子觀念活用在雷射、光電、固態、半導體、材料、奈米結構和元件等領域,可以做為這些研究領域的紮根基礎。
Chapter 1 Fundamental concepts
Kets, Bras, Operators, Matrix Representations; Measurements, Observables; Uncertainty Principle; Position, Momentum;Translation, Wavefunctions in Position and Momentum Space; Dirac Description of Quantum Mechanical States
Chapter 2 Quantum Dynamics
Time Evolution and the Schrodinger Equation; Schrodunger Picture vs. Heisenberg Picture; Simple Harmonic Oscillator; Schrodinger's Wave Equation
Chapter 3 The Tunneling Problems
General tunneling issue, applications: field emission devices, scanning tunneling microscopy, resonant tunneling diode, tunneling effect in MOS devices
Chapter 4 Spherically Symmetric Potential and Angular Momentum
Rotation and Angular Momentum; Commutation Relations, Spin 1/2 Systems; Orbital Angular Momentum; Addition of Angular Momentum; Quantum states in atoms
Chapter 5 Symmetry in Quantum Mechanics
Symmetries; Conservation Laws and Degeneracies; Discrete Symmetries; Parity, Space Inversion, Lattice Translation; Bloch theorem for solids
Chapter 6 Identical Particles
Permutation Symmetry; Two-Electron System; Field Quantization
Chapter 7 Approximation Methods
Time-independent Perturbation Theory: Degenerate and Nondegenerate Cases; Energy bands and states of electrons and holes in semiconductors and quantum wells; Time-dependent Perturbation Theory; Light-matter interaction.
